Scotland’s Annual Digital Health and Social Care Conference

The themes for the 2018 conference picked up on the recommendations within Scotland’s Digital Health and Social Care Strategy: Enabling, Connecting, Empowering. This has been a good opportunity to hear about the 2018 Digital Health and Care Strategy and progress with implementation of digitally enabled services. The programme featured prominent UK and International sector professionals working in digital health and social care.
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, Jeane Freeman, delivered a keynote speech offering her perspective on the future of digital in health and social care.

High level action of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic to reforms of healthcare on occasion of the WHO delegation visit in Prague

Presentations of national and WHO experts to 3 topics: public health, reform of primary care and integrated care, which was organized on occasion of WHO experts visit in Prague. The action was attended by the Minister, and deputy Minister and it was followed by a decison to start pertinent reform activities, including definition of new EU project for Integrated care, taking into account the SCIROCCO tool and assessments of Integrated Care made in the Czech Republic.

Bevan Commission of Wales: Celebration of the 70th anniversary of the launch of the national health service in the United Kingdom

The Bevan Commission of Wales celebrated the 70th anniversary of the launch of the national health service in the United Kingdom: http://www.bevancommission.org/en/. The conference was held at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales, and close to 500 people attended. Speakers included the First Minister for Wales, Carwyn Jones, and Cabinet Secretary for health and social services, Vaughn Gething. The SCIROCCO project was presented by Diane Whitehouse, EHTEL, as part of a panel on innovative service delivery.

ICIC18 – 18th International Conference on Integrated Care
23-25 May 2018, Utrecht, The Netherlands
This annual conference brought together researchers, clinicians and managers from around the world who are engaged in the design and delivery of integrated health and social care. They shared experience and the latest evidence about integrating Public Health, Health and Social Care and the new roles and possibilities for hospitals, producing positive and curative integrated mental and physical care, mobilising key enablers like policy making and mobile and digital health solutions, and investment in an integrated care workforce, clinical leadership and coproduction with individuals, careers, communities and populations.
SCIROCCO has been presented by Donna Henderson and Andrea Pavlickova on 24 May in the session „Transforming integrated care in Europe through collaboration & Knowledge transfer“ and as well on 25 May by Christina Alexandru (University of Edinburgh), Tamara Alhambra (Polibienestar Research Institute – Universitat de València) and Diane Whitehouse (EHTEL).

B3 Action Group Meeting: SCIROCCO Tool Presentation

The B3 Action Group on Integrated Care of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) brought together the members of the Action Group for the face-to-face meeting on 16 May 2018 in Brussels. The objective of the meeting was to raise awareness about the progress of the B3 Action Group activities, including the development of the Maturity Model and its online self-assessment tool. The detailed methodology and process for the application of the Tool was outlined, including a practical example and experience of the Basque Country using the Tool to assess the requirements necessary for the implementation and transferability of the Pain Clinic Good Practice.

EHTEL-EHMA-SCIROCCO Thought Leadership Webinar: How to accelerate scaling Integrated Care in Europe

EHTEL and EHMA have partnered and joined forces with SCIROCCO to raise awareness about management tools and methods which can help implementers to scale-up digital health services and make them an integral part of health and care delivery systems. The first collaboration on the matter has started in 2012 with the Momentum project and ended-up with the identification of 18 critical success factors and the development of a collaborative assessment methodology. Over one hour, spotlights have been put on the SCIROCCO On-Line tool, aiming at assessing the readiness of an environment for Integrated Care. The tool is based on the Maturity Model and takes the form of an on-line questionnaire.

Assembly of European Regions (AER): eHealth Workshop

At its spring plenaries in Romania, AER organised a meeting on the tenth anniversary of its eHealth Network. Discussions took place on practical work on scaling-up integrated care. Diane Whitehouse (EHTEL) provided a briefing on SCIROCCO achievements under the headline “deployment of integrated systems: a 12-dimension maturity model” and encouraged wider testing and application of the model.

Scaling-up integrated care in Europe, Workshop at Middlesex University“

Integrated care is of considerable importance in Europe, joining together different parts of the different Member States’ health and care systems. Europeans want increasingly to be able to scale up these activities and make sure that they are planned well.
The SCIROCCO tool incorporates the Maturity Model for the adoption of Integrated Care developed by the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing’s action group B3 on integrated care and can be used to scale up integrated care, across different health and care sectors, in a range of communities, and at different levels within health systems or care systems.

Meeting the Challenge of Ageing „Putting the Citizens at the Heart of Integrated Care in Europe“ (Part II – local event for Open Days 2017) – 21 November, Glasgow, Scotland
As part of Scotland’s engagement in the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) and the Reference Sites Collaborative Network (RSCN), Scotland has lead the development of a tool to assess regions’ progress and maturity in the provision of integrated care and innovative solutions for active and healthy ageing. The online self-assessment tool is intended to stimulate discussion, to encourage stakeholders to share experiences, and to reach out those stakeholders who can help Europe to accelerate its journey towards innovative integrated care systems to meet future demands. Core to this process is the involvement of as wide a range of stakeholders as possible.

The European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC 2017) event showcased the work of a number of regions involved in the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA): Through the EIP on AHA, the European cities and regions implement comprehensive, innovation-based approaches to active and healthy ageing and share information and good practices to overcome bottlenecks in innovation, knowledge-pooling and resource-sharing. As a result of close collaboration of four Reference Sites (the Basque Country, Norrbotten, Olomouc and Scotland), an online tool to assess the progress of regions and their maturity in the provision of innovative integrated care solutions has been developed.

eHealth Week 2017, St. Julians, Malta

During eHealth Week 2017, organised by EC, the Maltese EU Presidency and HIMSS Europe, speakers and delegates explored the changing ways in which personal health data is created, stored, shared and used. Opportunities are growing for ICT to support patient-centred health services and the involvement of patients in their own care, including access to personal health data, sharing of data, and mHealth applications. The SCIROCCO project was presented at the Speakers Corner and in the session „Smart Environments and Integrated Care: Helping Europeans to live better, not just to live longer“.

Vitalis, Sweden 25 – 27 April (Scirocco Presentation)
Vitalis is the largest eHealth event in Scandinavia. Vitalis is a meeting point for everyone working strategically or operatively with business development and eHealth issues within healthcare and welfare. Visitors are from municipalities and county councils as well as from authorities and the private sector. The SCIROCCO project presented the Maturity Model and how it can support regions in transitioning to integrated care.

EHTEL Communities Day @ EHTEL Symposium 2017

SCIROCCO Workshop Scaling Integrated Care in Europe – What does it take: The objective of this workshop was to explore the SCIROCCO tool’s potential to facilitate exchanges of good practice and the scaling-up of active and healthy ageing solutions in Europe. The workshop provided detailed insight into the development and use of SCIROCCO online tool and demonstrated the practical experience of European regions with applying the tool to assess the maturity of their national and regional integrated care practices. The workshop featured specifically the outcomes of the maturity assessment in the Norrbotten Region (Sweden), Basque Country (Spain) and Puglia Region in Italy.

ICIC16 – 16th International Conference on Integrated Care
